Lucerne Valley has two public parks maintained by the county of San
Bernardino.
Pioneer Park has a modern playground with safe and colorful equipment for the
smaller children. Baseball diamonds, Basketball courts, Tennis courts, batting
cages and volleyball courts are available.
If you prefer, take a quiet stroll
through the shady trees or enjoy the provided BBQ's and tables. The acres of
lush grass provide opportunities for Frisbee, a game of catch or quiet time with
a good book.
Midway Park features a full size horse arena with seating, barns and equestrian
related equipment.
The facility is available year-round for use by the local 4H, FFA, Eti Corral and the general public.
Midway park also has meeting rooms
available for clubs, groups and organizations.
Lucerne Valley also has a fully equipped
recreation center complete with swimming pool, BBQ's, picnic area, tennis
and basketball courts open to the public for a nominal fee. It is located on the
east end of town at the intersection of Visalia and Foothill roads.
Lucerne Valley is home to two multiple use Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) open areas that are
shared with equestrian and other activities.
Just east of town is the Johnson Valley, OHV area. The largest OHV area in the
United States. Punctuated by steep, red, rocky mountains, rolling hills, open
valleys, dry lakebeds and sandy washes, this area provides a challenging arena
for off highway vehicle enthusiasts.
Wide open spaces and diverse mountain
ranges, also provide abundant opportunities for visitors interested in hiking,
rock climbing, rock hounding and plant, bird, and wildlife watching.
To the north you will find the Stoddard Valley OHV open area. Though smaller
this area holds many annual off-road events.
Lucerne Valley is a great 'jumping off' point. Big Bear Lake and ski resorts are
just 30 minutes away. Joshua Tree National Monument is 45 minutes east.
Coastline beaches, Palm Springs, Calico Ghost Town, State line and Vegas are all
pleasant day trips.
Maybe peace and quiet are the pleasures you seek, Lucerne Valley is in abundant
supply.
